Wisteria japonica ‘Macrobotrys’
One of the world’s great garden plants, this sturdy ornamental vine is grown for its exceptionally long, 2-4′ racemes, bearing 80-125 well-spaced pale violet flowers with a yellow blotch. Each leaf holds 11-17 pale bronze leaflets in spring which turn clear yellow in fall. Vigorous growth needs to be trained for the first 3 years to get established then requires an annual spring pruning after flowering.
