1998 AAS Winner. Improved for colors, stems can be yellow, gold, orange, pink, violet or striped in addition to red or white. Easy to grow from seed or bedding plants. Harvest in 4-5 weeks. For use as a garnish, in salads and in many tasty recipes, Bright Lights has great taste. It’s a standout in any garden, even with the flowers. Both the leaves and stalks are edible raw, steamed, and sautéed, but avoid the lower 2-3 inches of the stalk as it may be fibrous and tough. Size Or Color When Ripe:
Begin harvesting leaves when they reach 5-6 inches or are large enough to use. Break off the outer leaves at their base, taking care not to damage the inner leaves. Plants that are harvested regularly will continue to produce new growth from the center of the plant.
