Origanum vulgare
Pale green leaves have a mild flavor when fresh and a slightly stronger when dried. Purplish pink flowers bloom July to September and attract bees and butterflies. May self seed. Good in containers and borders. Flavoring for tomato dishes, meat, poultry, and pork stuffings; vegetables, sauces, etc. Flowers have a pungent, spicy flavor, but are milder than the leaves.
