Pruning:
- Prune in late winter or early spring before buds form.
- Remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches.
- Eliminate crisscrossing branches or branches that are rubbing against each other.
- Remove suckers from the bottom of the trunk.
- Avoid pruning in late summer and fall.
- For old Rose of Sharon, do rejuvenation pruning by cutting the plant back by two-thirds of the total size. May not bloom that year.
