Pruning:
- The best time to prune boxwood is in the late winter to early spring, before the plant breaks dormancy and begins flushing. This is typically late February to mid-March in Ohio.
- Small touch-up prunings can be done throughout the spring and summer.
-
Avoid shearing during the tail-end of summer, the fall, and most of the winter. The new growth after trimming boxwood bushes may not have time to harden off before frost.
